Circa 1940s
One of my guilty pleasures about living in France (and I will definitely have to blog about this later) is constantly finding new things I love to collect. It’s the magpie in me… I then get compliments on my new “finds” and feel I have to share them with the world. This is one of them.
During the Art Deco period, there was a tendency to experiment with new materials, and one of these is chrome (lots of my lights feature it, as does the beautiful glass tray with chrome that we’ve put on sale today) – and mixing it with different materials, in this case thick structured glass. The results are stunning.
This little pink number has it all: a small and fetching chrome leg (chrome is all intact!), pert bright pink “bubbles” along the side, and the inside is etched in floral relief. I like to place my glass and chrome bowls on a fireplace mantel, but they also look great as a centerpiece. Fill it with fruit, glass pebbles, or do like me and leave it empty and just stare and admire the color, design and shape. We’ll try and find more for you, because we love them and they come in lots of different colors and shapes. The glass is in excellent condition, the center chrome “button” has a tiny bit of wear and tear on it, but it isn’t really noticeable (see the photos).
