Early Art Deco Wrought Iron (Fer Forge) Ceiling Lamp

This Ceiling Lamp took my breath away this weekend when I saw it, and we bargained hard with the vendor to sell it to us at a reasonable price because he knew he had an absolute stunner!

Look at the work on the wrought iron (Fer Forge in French) – this intricate pattern and heavily sculpted opaque glass lamp is a work of art. It is reminiscent of a pearl earring! Unlit or lit, you can’t stop staring at it. It is ancient (my guess is the 1920s) so must be rewired.

You can see all the typical features of Organic Art Deco design: the high quality of work and materials. The glass itself has the beauty and simplicity characteristic of the best Art Deco manufacturers.

I haven’t been able to find a signature on the glass, but it may have simply worn or rubbed off in 90+ years of age. Possibly Muller Freres or Schneider, due to its high quality.
